Originally aired August 28, 2015.
Coming off the biggest event in league history, the CAW Champions League opens with Adrenaline #77 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
And then there was one. Ray Gettys went through the Hell in a Cell structure, yet still survived the carnage, The Great D, and Casey Gordon to become the new CCL World Heavyweight Champion. All three men are recovering from the hellacious encounter, but the new world champion will make a statement on this episode.
“The Ragin’ Redneck” isn’t the only new world champion. The 5’3” spitfire from Baltimore, Nadi, won some gold too: she became the new CCL Womens Champion. But it was a bittersweet victory, as she and Taylor Starr—now the former women’s champion---lost the women’s tag team titles earlier that evening to Christie Monteiro & Wonder Woman. But Nadi won’t have time to mourn the loss or she could be a one-hit wonder: Black Widow has elected to cash in her Money in the Bank title shot for this episode, and the first lady of the Avengers is more than capable of taking the women’s title from Nadi.
We got new tag champions too in Big Money after they survived the double elimination bouts at The Big One, but it was not without controversy. Jordan Collins of the Wolfpack cost Boa the Constrictor the deciding fall in the match, allowing Big Money’s The Big Robowski to get the win. Surely a lot’s gonna be made out of the tag team situation, especially when Big Money’s Chris James takes on one half of the Constrictors, Black Anaconda.
And speaking of title matches ending in controversy, the National title had a controversial finish too, one the champion certainly isn’t happy about. Matt Phoenix defeated Zach Stone to retain the title, but with an unlikely assist from Zach’s boss in DCA, Jordan Siliva. What will the three principals have to say about all this? We’ll hear from at least one of them for sure.
Gregory Black and CJ Wizard both went to hardcore hell, but only Wizard got the return ticket, as he survived a Texas deathmatch to become the new Hardcore Champion. Moments later, one of Black’s protégés, CJ Logan, ran into the new champion. Wizard said he was planning to make history, but the only grand slam winner in CCL history said he’s gonna make some history of his own. What does it mean? Guess you’ll have to tune in and find out.
All this and more on the next edition of Adrenaline.
Confirmed matches:
• CCL WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP: Nadi vs. Black Widow
