Brooklyn. N.Y. USA-27th May 2016-Rally To Demand #JusticeForNicholasHeywardJr
Hosted by Nicholas Naquan Heyward Jr Memorial Foundation
May 27th, 2016 - Nicholas Heyward Sr., father of 13-year old boy killed in 1994 by a cop, will rally outside the office of Brooklyn DA Ken Thompson at 350 Jay Street in Brooklyn NY
21 years ago a Brooklyn housing cop fatally shot 13-yr old Nicholas Heyward Jr. in circumstances nearly identical to that of Akai Gurley: a darkly lit stairwell, claims of an "accident" and victims whose only crime was to be black in a housing staircase.
The father of Nicholas Heyward Jr. has met multiple times with Ken Thompson's Civil Rights Bureau to continue to push for a full investigation in the death of little Nicholas. Now, with turmoil with Thompson's office, Mr. Heyward's supporters want to hold Thompson to the promise that he made to Heyward back in 2013 when was campaigning to become the Brooklyn DA: investigate little Nicholas' death.
Over the course of multiple meetings with Thompson's representatives, Mr. Heyward has provided the DA's office with more than enough evidence and information to move forward with the investigation. The ball is in the Brooklyn DA's court now.
