he first twenty minutes of this film banks on the clippings of 100 days event of 'Appu' the debut film of Puneeth Rajakumar where in Tamil Superstar Rajanikanth, Dr Rajakumar shared the dais. These portions in fact give a lift to 'Yogi' film. In addition to it the song clippings of Puneeth Rajakumar films in the opening song of the film 'Appu Andre Appune.....further gives a pep to the mass audience. Udaya Prakash the director of the film knows the trick of the trade. He has made the protagonist of the film 'Yogi' as Power star Puneeth Rajakumar fan.
However what transform later on is good in pieces, three songs give mass appeal to the film and actors Yogish, Suchendra Prasad, Shirin carries the film from convincing performances. The lady love of protagonist Bianca Desai is sidelined by actress Shirin for her very casual performance in the villain gang.
Horrible childhood makes Yogi (Yogish) to join the supplier job in the famous Naidu Hotel in the busy locality. He is known for honesty, strength and feels he belongs to Bruce Lee generation. He is a hardcore fan of Puneeth Rajakumar. He names the food items in the hotel with the film names of Puneeth Rajakumar. In one of the incidents Yogi is forced to use his muscle power that puts down the brother of feared don KK. Around this time a rival gang leader Babu comes there to take revenge on KK brother but he is satisfied with Yogi daring strength. Obviously Babu supports Yogi to save him from opponent gang. It is Paddu (Shirin) in the gang of Babu stands very supportive to Yogi because of his innocence. Forced to be a part of the underworld activity Yogi sees lot of danger in his life even when he meets his childhood girl friend Mala (Biaenca Desai). Startled Yogi finds Mala is supportive of KK because in one of the encounters Yogi joined hands with Babu to kill Mala father.
Whether Yogi gets Mala his lover, whether Paddu is happy in her life for being a part of underworld you have to watch it on silver screen.
What best the director Udaya Prakash could have made is to prune the second half and make it sit through. He has the strength of stitching scenes that creates gripping moments.
Yogi is absolutely fit for the role. His dialogue delivery is what earns him applaud. In the dance and songs he is convincing. Shirin as Paddu gathers more attention. She freaks out in her role that is anti social in nature. Biaenca Desai looks like a glamour doll and opportunity for her is very little in this film. Suchendra Prasad gives a commendable performance. His dialogue delivery with well measured lines makes the role very absorbing.
