Pretty much anything of value can be stolen.

Take koi fish for example.

The Fairfax Police Department is currently working to find two men who allegedly posed as maintenance workers at a Virginia Park. The males reportedly stole about 400 koi fish from a pond.

Between June 8th and the 16th, both suspects went to the Dulles Corner Park at least four separate times. They used nets to take the fish out of the water and placed them in coolers. They told the bystanders that they were aquatic personnel and were removing the unhealthy koi fish from the pond.

An investigation is now underway and police have classified the crime as grand larceny because the monetary amount of the fish is well over $200. It is estimated the men walked off with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of koi.

Evidently, there has been an increase in koi fish thefts in recent times. The owner of an aquarium in Silver Spring stated “There is a whole little cult around this fish. It’s almost like dog shows.”
