WALKING ABOUT SEOUL WITH EMIL - EMIL WEST
Going anywhere with Emil is an adventure in boredom and frustration. This is not anything that a normal human being would elect, of their own free will, to do.
It's craziness in how he will spend an hour wondering about a spot that I was done with after a quick look-a-round. But, then again, I cannot create the same art as Emil. He has that ability that only becomes totally apparent at the end of the process.
Looking back on the finished product, I also say that I don't remember that...I didn't see that guy in the white sports coat!
Korea and Seoul has a special meaning given it's symbolism of the power of democracy over whatever they call what they have a mere miles north of where we were.
But, Emil's great sadness was the inability to go there and show that for all the political differences, the Korean People do not differ in what they wish for their families, their dreams and desires...(just like the Wall of Hope spoke to)...In fact, Emil is well quoted as saying that all people share these traits and for all of our differences...we are all the same...as the differences that so deeply dived us are all artificial not in our DNA.
Anyway...a day with Emil is a week with normal tourists and much less fun.
Next time, I will send Emil and then, wait to look at the pictures afterwards...since I never remember seeing all the things that Emil saw.
