Rachel Thomas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Therapy With Heart

Hi, my name is Rachel Thomas. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I'm the owner and clinical director of Therapy with Heart. My mission, my number one goal, is to create a safe space for growth. How I approach my work with you is very collaborative, and what that means is I believe you're the expert on you. You're the expert on your life, your situation, and I bring the clinical expertise. So, between the two of us, I trust that we can navigate the process towards healing and growth. I also utilize mindfulness in my work with you, which includes using a sense of presence, using the power of the breath, and self-compassion. And what that does is it increases your awareness, your acceptance, and ultimately creates action and change.

I have three areas that I specialize in specifically. One is working with couples from an emotionally focused couples therapy model. I get very excited when I talk about this model because I believe in it so wholeheartedly. Basically every couple across the board gets into a pattern or a cycle of disconnection, and our goal is to uncover that cycle, figure out what the underlying feelings are and messages that happen, and create a new cycle of connection, healing, and a foundation of trust.

I also specialize in grief and loss which, in my opinion, everybody goes through the grief process when you've lost a loved one, but it can be so very powerful to have a space to be able to explore what happened, to share your loved one with me, and to figure out where you're going from here.

My last area is infertility and reproductive care. And having gone through infertility myself, I know all the various aspects that it can affect in your life. So, whether you decide to come in together with your partner or alone, my goal is to create coping strategies for you to empower you to make choices and to help you through this chapter in your life.
