Aided by the cultural duality of her home town of Kaltern in South Tyrol -- that most northern of Italy's border regions and an area that already displays some Mediterranean aspects -- Barbara Zanetti seizes the opportunity presented by this wide cultural variety. Consequently, she feels quite at home in a number of languages and is able to present her work in the differing genres with self-confidence and charm.
Self-composed songs - mainly ballads featuring a narrative climax - boasting her own lyrics written in German, Italian and English were already an integral part of her debut album „How Could I Forget" (DTM 01570); these elements have been developed even further on her new album and now form a convincing mixture of moving, passionate, melancholy songs with warm, dynamic rocky sounds. However, Barbara Zanetti's powerful voice is also very much at home when set against a more powerful musical background, as displayed in the self-composed hymn ,Glory Time' written especially for the Biathlon World Championships and now available as a single (DTM 01595) featuring three different versions of the song.
This versatile artist made important appearances at the ,Sportler des Jahres' (Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year) awards ceremony, with the hymn „Going on" specially written for the occasion, at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin on the occasion of the first German-American Friendship Festival (,The Bridge New York/Berlin') and has already appeared twice at the European Singer-Songwriter Festival ,Songs an einem Sommerabend' (Songs on a Summer Evening) in Bad Staffelstein. In addition she has also made numerous appearances in shows broadcast by ZDF, SWR, ARD, BR, ORF and RAI.
Barbara Zanetti's songs marks the climax of her conclusive search for uniqueness and individuality in her lyrics and music, so also the single 'Stand up for African mothers' released in 2012 and dedicated to AMREF's international campaign.
