Grumpy Harrison Ford Roles: Dr. Richard Kimble 7

Generally speaking, all films based on TV shows should be approached with intense skepticism bordering on contempt. However, The Fugitive is one of those rare exceptions that tops the original series in every conceivable way and suggests small-to-big-screen adaptations aren’t so bad after all. A big reason for the success of the film was casting Harrison Ford as the wrongfully accused lead whose cross-country quest for the truth was a perfect excuse for the actor’s usual grouchy ass-kickery. Plus, the filmmakers came up with the ingenious concept of having Ford face off against the only actor in Hollywood who can top his grumpiness: Tommy Lee Jones. The result was an instant action classic that holds up well and could have just as easily been called Grumpy Old Men -- if that title hadn’t already been taken.
