Fractured Opposition: SNC member calls Geneva 2 talks "waste of time" [Maleh @ PressTV]
A senior member of the so-called Syrian National Council calls the upcoming Geneva Two talks on Syria a waste of time.
Maleh was speaking in Istanbul where the foreign-backed Syrian opposition is holding a two-day meeting. The remarks came as the US is pressing the group for peace talks. The Geneva Two initiative was proposed by Russia and the US on May 7. But the fractured opposition coalition insists it will not attend the conference unless Damascus is forced to abide by the outcome. Earlier, it also demanded a clear timeframe for President Bashar al-Assad to step down. The Syrian government has agreed to take part in the talks. But it has rejected preconditions or any insistence on Assad's departure.
