Three 6 Mafia's Lord Infamous Dead At Age 40
Juicy J and Gangsta Boo tweet R.I.P. messages in reaction to Infamous' unexpected death on Friday night.
Three 6 Mafia founding member Ricky "Lord Infamous" Dunigan was found dead in his mother's Memphis, Tennessee home on Friday night. The cause of death is currently unknown. He was 40 years old.
The news was confirmed by other current and former members of the group and Hypnotize Mindz crew, which Infamous was a part of. "R.I.P. lord infamous," Three 6 member Juicy J tweeted on Saturday afternoon.
"Rest in Peace Lord Infamous please respect the family and dear friends during this tragedy," Gangsta Boo said on the social networking site. "I will never forget the shows we rocked together . My heart is in pieces."
"He gave us the name #Triple6Mafia he was a pioneer, he was a god, he was my friend. RIP Ricky 'Lord Infamous' Dunnigan," tweeted Lil Wyte.
Three 6 got their start in the mid-90s under the leadership of DJ Paul and Juicy J, and at one time or another included Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Black, Gangsta Boo and Infamous. While Juicy is currently enjoying solo success, the remaining members of the group formed Da Mafia 6ix and earlier this year released their 6ix Commandments mixtape.
Da Mafia 6ix's publicist confirmed to HipHopDX.com on Saturday (December 20) that Infamous passed away at his mother's home, but didn't provide much information beyond that."We're actually trying to figure out how he died," the rep said.
Back in 2010 Infamous suffered a heart attack and a stroke. It is unknown if his previous health issues contributed to his death.
