Following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Barack Obama urged Congress to provide a package of assistance to the Ukrainian people.

He said this should not be a partisan issue on Capitol Hill.

Mr. Obama said that over time, Russia's actions in Ukraine would be a costly proposition for Moscow, and that the situation in Crimea is deeply troubling.

He added that Russia is on the "wrong side of history" in its military intervention in Ukraine.
