This is one of three Chinese vessels joining the search for the Malaysia Airlines flight that vanished on Saturday.

The Jinggangshan amphibious landing ship is carrying personnel and equipment including medical supplies and staff, and a team of divers.

Its counterpart is expected to reach the search area on Monday. A 4, 000 tonne police vessel is already there.

The U.S., Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore are also helping in the search.

By 0700GMT on Sunday, well over 24 hours since the last contact with Flight MH 370, there was still hint of its fate.

The Boeing aircraft was carrying 239 passengers and crew when it vanished on Saturday en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Malaysia's air force chief says the search area is being widened to include the country's west coast because the plane may have been trying to turn back.
