Sometimes its these old-timey, nearly forgotten movie gems which has the highest of bodycounts. And it pays portraying a real-life Chinese patriot and revolutionist who stood up against tyranny of the Manchurian government, as Kuo Hsiao-Chuang (whose career somehow dissipated after showing up in merely six films), playing the role of Qiu Jin, the Woman Knight of Mirror Lake during the Chinese revolution as known in history, demonstrates in this little-seen biopic. Backing her up is Xu Xilin (the one-and-only Jimmy Wang Yu), her cousin returning from education overseas in Japan and Cai Yuen-pei (Jiang Ming), her best friend and fellow revolution leader. The three of them might have what it takes to inspire the people to fight against oppression and tyranny, despite being massively outnumbered by the Manchurian army in this little-seen (and somewhat anachronistic) historical biopic based on real events.
