Does Islam teaches men to beat women?

Beating women is not only a problem in the arab world but also in most of the thirdWorld(http://www.unfpa.org/focus/nicaragua/msmagazine.htm),most of this people have less knowledge!

Many accuse that islam tells men to beat their wives...they don't know....and they judge this by "some" ignorant "Muslim"!
