Ukraine denies firing a shell into Russian territory killing one man

Ukrainian forces have denied reports that one of its shells killed a Russian man in an incident of cross border shooting.
Moscow has threatened what it called “irreversible consequences” after an individual died, but Kyiv claims the shelling may have come from rebel separatists.
“We have many examples of terrorists carrying out provocation shootings, including into Russian territory, and then accusing Ukrainian forces of it,” stated Andriy Lysenko, from the Ukrainian National Security and Defence council
It is the first time Russia has reported fatalities on its side of the border from the three month conflict.
Russia claims the shell hit a house in the Russian border town of Donetsk near the Ukrainian city of the same name killing one person and injuring two of his neighbours.
“When the first blast happened, I was sitting on the bed and asked myself, ‘What is that?’ I was scared, and it seems that then the second blow hit m,” said one elderly lady from a hospital bed.
Meanwhile Ukraine says its warplanes carried out five air strikes on rebel bases near Luhansk airport.
In several other incidents local officials said 18 civilians had been killed in shootings near the town which is controlled by separatists.
