Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has directed his counsel to withdraw the letter written in response to the defamation notice of ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Former chief justice sent a defamation notice of Rs 20 million to the PTI chief in July.
Directing his counsel to take back the reply, Imran said the letter was written without consulting him as Hamid Khan was on US tour.
Hamid Khan had said in the letter that his client never meant to abuse or disrespect any member of the judiciary and requested the former CJP to “reconsider the idea of entering into personal litigation.”
PTI chief said the directions were given because the letter doesn’t reflect his opinion.
Khan said the ex-chief justice should be told that he hasn’t changed his stance over his alleged involvement in the election rigging. It has been learnt that Hamid Khan will send a new letter to the legal team of Iftikhar Chaudhry today.
