Comedian Maija DiGiorgio portrays FAMIKA on her talk show interviewing Prince.
Maija DiGiorgio is one of the most one of the most versatile and high voltage female comics around.
Most recently, Maija headlined the Uncontrolled Comedy special shot in Oakland, Ca. and directed by the man behind this millennium’s comedy specials, Leslie Small. Mr. Small was so impressed with maija’s performance that he asked her to be one of the comics on Michael Vick’s Comedy explosion in Shreveport, La.
Both nationally and internationally, Maija has commanded the stage at a-list comedy clubs in New york, Los angeles, to the UK and Japan.
Maija has shared the stage with the modern comedy greats, Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, Dane Cook, Louis CK, Wanda Sykes and more. Because of her ability to hold her own with the best, it was no surprise that Maija got a standing ovation on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam as well as at the Apollo Theatre. In she was then invited to perform at the Beacon Theater with the best of Def Comedy Jam.
Maija’s career has not stopped there, she also has numerous tv credits to her name such as the Fred Silverman produced Fox Show “Mouth Off” (as a writer and cohost) and Sex in the City among others.
Maija has also been the hostess for the NAACP anti-bullying events. She has proudly presented her one woman show “The White Person’s (Guilt-free) Guide to Black America” at the Mixed Roots Festival for Diversity. She also had gotten rave reviews of her one woman show “RATS!” six modernized Shakespeare in a musical about love.
Her radio career started at the top as the morning co-host to Ed Lover on New York City’s #1 station, Hot 97. Maija is also a director, her film Bitter Jester which featured cameos of the world’s most influentialcomics in the industry; George Carlin, Whoopi
Goldberg,Richard Pryor and more. The film received rave reviews from Variety and the New York Times was the largest selling in screening at Tribeca Film Festival (til hat date).
