JAY-Z VS LINKIN PARK: LIVE ROXY THEATRE PART 1 OF 2

The biggest names in rock and rap have joined forces to create awe-inspiring reinterpretations of their biggest hits to date with Linkin Park’s ‘Numb’, ‘In The End’ and ‘One Step Closer’ amongst the tracks featured with Jay-Z’s ‘Big Pimpin’’, ’99 Problems’ and ‘Izzo’.

The album will be available in cassette, vinyl and an exciting DVD/CD double-pack. The DVD features an exclusive live performance from July 18th recorded at Hollywood’s Roxy Theater. The revealing documentary also goes behind the scenes to witness how two gargantuan forces of music worked on their collaboration. The CD features studio versions of the same tracks, produced by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

The double-vinyl format features the same studio tracks as the DVD/CD version and also a second disc of alternate versions.

Says Shinoda about selecting the songs that would be melded, “We picked the songs based on tempo, key and vibe. Most of it was pretty obvious to me - the songs just told me which ones should go together.” Based on early response, the pairings are perfect; the real challenge came while re-recording the tracks in the studio, most notably the vocal tracks. Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington says of the experience, ”The biggest challenge in recording some of the new vocals was singing our dark lyrics over Jay's music. Some of his songs felt happier than our songs - which made for a different attitude in our vocals.”

Between the pair of them, Jay-Z and Linkin Park have sold over 40-million albums, ensuring that ‘Collision Course’ will be one of the hottest releases of 2004.
