This video lecture from Group IIIA and Group IVA Elements (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers an introduction to group IVA elements. This group has a large variation in its properties. Carbon and silicon are non metals, germanium is a metalloid while other two members, tin and lead are metals. Tin and lead show inert pair effect while others don’t. Catenation or self linkage is a unique feature of carbon only while silicon gives Si-O linkages. Find more e-learning material and educational video lectures in Urdu at maktab.pk.
