The real challenge for designers is finding silhouettes that reflect the spirit of the times. This year Raf Simons for Dior took a gamble, combining sartorial references from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Breaking with tradition, Jean Paul Gaultier took the figure of the bride as his central inspiration: quite the move for someone who had previously only ever treated marriage as comic material!
