Kahani Pakistani - Fashion’s Global Impact

Fashion has global impact. It drives economies. It nurtures imagination. It transcends language and borders, and brings people together. In today's episode, host Ayesha Gilani explore that impact from different angles, meeting industry experts and newbies with different points of view, different professions, but all with the purpose of making the world a more beautiful place - both through aesthetics and through harmony.

Begin at the fashion capital of America, New York City, where the first ever Fashion Pakistan Week to be held in the USA took place at Location 05 Studios. Ayesha met industry professionals from Pakistan and the States, the organizers, and a student here from Pakistan to study Fashion Merchandising, all with the common purpose of highlighting the rich culture, talent, and soft image of Pakistan. She also follows one fashion professional behind the scenes at a fashion shoot to learn more about her craft. Back in Washington, D.C., Ayesha meets Indian American, Sim Khan, who, when unable to find suits to his liking to wear while fighting his court cases, decided to begin designing his own and now designs for celebrities.

Finally, following the thread of the student she met earlier, she sets out to explore the world of fashion, science and education by sitting down for an exclusive interview with Dr. Joyce F. Brown, the president of what’s said to be one of the top ten fashion schools in the world, the Fashion Institute of Technology. There, she also meets with a star student, Natalya Koval, who hasn’t yet begun her professional career but through a school contest, has already designed a dress for First Lady Michelle Obama.
