Gun self defense: Army vet Doug Jandebeur, 84, uses handgun to turn tables on mugger

Doug Jandebeur, 84, fought off a mugger on Monday evening by showing his assailant his automatic handgun. Doug was leaving his business in Tulsa, Oklahoma when a mugger spotted the elderly man.

As Doug was getting into his truck to drive home with his wife, the thief pounced—punching him and grabbing his wallet. But Doug is a U.S. Army veteran and Doug is a big fan of the right to bear arms.

CCTV footage aired on U.S. news stations caught video of the moment the tables were turned on the surprised would-be robber. The mugger got the wallet, but as Doug put it, he also almost got himself “ventilated” by the Doug’s automatic handgun.

The would-be thief turned tail and ran—no one was seriously hurt in the incident, but Doug told the media he was very glad he had his gun with him. In fact, he told reporters that “anyone who doesn’t arm himself is asking for trouble.”

Do you agree with Mr. Jandebeur?
