Craigslist murder: Car sale becomes deadly carjacking for Abdullah Alkadi, Agustin Fernandez charged

One month after his disappearance, the body of 23-year-old Abdullah Alkadi, an electrical engineering student at California State University Northridge was found in Palm Desert, California almost 200 miles away from his home.

In a news conference on October 20, police announced the arrest of Agustin Rosendo Fernandez, 28, of Long Beach. Rosendo met the victim on Craigslist on September 17.

According to initial reports, police located the vehicle and the person who bought it and determined the transaction was not linked to the disappearance.

Fernandez has been charged with one count of murder with the special circumstances of murder during a robbery and murder during a carjacking. The defendant allegedly used a knife, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Another man is in custody but has not yet been charged.
