UK: Crowds gather for christening of Princess Charlotte

It is a day for royal watchers to relish!

Britain’s Princess Charlotte is being christened this Sunday and while the baptism itself is a private affair, members of the public have been gathering nearby to try to get a glimpse of the fourth in line to the throne.

Surrounded by union flags and, in many cases, sporting the flag themselves, excited onlookers explained why they had staked their claim to a place in the paddock for the baptism of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s daughter.

“Well I was there for Charlotte when she was born and I’ve got to be here for the christening and I think that makes it special,” said royal super-fan Terry Hutt.

Fellow enthusiast Lindy Diaper added: “We just love the Royal Family. And we unfortunately were not able to make it to London to see Princess Charlotte when she was discharged from hospital. So we thought this is the next best thing. Let’s be here for the christening.”
