Hi! Today we unbox and review the new Pac-Man amiibo figure from Nintendo and Namco Bandai! Is he one of our new favorite amiibo characters? Watch and find out!
We introduce Pac-Man to all of our other amiibo figures, including Sonic, Mario, Princess Peach, Captain Falcon, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Samus, Link, Zelda, Luigi, Rosalina and Luma! Then we of course re-box Pac-Man, because it's become a bit of a tradition!
The Pac-Man amiibo figure is from “wave 4” of Nintendo’s amiibo line of toys. Amiibo figures are much like Skylanders or Disney Infinity figures in that they are used with different Nintendo video games to unlock new features in the game. Amiibo figures represent characters from many different Nintendo franchises, including Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Wii Fit, Kid Icarus, Super Mario Galaxy, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Game and Watch, Wario Ware, Earthbound and Punch-Out! Can you believe that there are no Waluigi or Ridley amiibo figures?
Current and future games in which you can use amiibo figures are Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy +, Code Name: STEAM, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Wooly World, Mario Party 10 and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. Just don’t forget that the official plural of amiibo is not “amiibos” but either "amiibo figures" or just "amiibo!"
Pac-Man is one of the most recognizable classic video game characters. His original arcade game was developed by Namco and distributed in the United States by Bally/Midway. Did you know that Ms. Pac-Man, the sequel, wasn't officially developed by Namco? Crazy, right? Pac-Man has appeared in many video games since, including Pac-Land, Pac-Man 2, Pac-Attack, Pac-Mania, Super Pac-Man, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Pac-Man World, Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, Pac-Man Vs., Pac-Man Pinball Advance, Pac-Man Fever, Baby Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus, Pac-Man Battle Royale, Junior Pac-Man, and even an arcade version of Super Mario Kart! These video games appeared on the Atari 2600, Colecovision, Nintendo (NES), SEGA Genesis, Super Nintendo (SNES), Sony Playstation (PS1), Nintendo 64 (N64), SEGA Dreamcast, PS2, the GameCube, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and of course, arcades. There have also been several other Pac-Man products since the 80s including lunch boxes, toys, t-shirts, watches, a tv show, cereal, kids lunch pasta, and candy!
Pac-Man is owned by Namco/Bandai, the developer of many other games including Galaga, Galaxian, Tales of Phantasia series, Dragonball, Dig Dug, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Ridge Racer, Splatterhouse, Rolling Thunder, Namco Museum, Mappy, Ace Combat, Xevious, Katamari Damacy, Tower of Druaga, and Klonoa.
Nintendo is of course the video game developer famous for Super Mario Bros., the Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, Metroid, Pokemon, Tetris, Wii Sports, Punch-Out!, and Mario Party games.
