Cuba-EU Talks Focus on Political Pact

The fifth round of talks between Cuba and the European Union focused on reaching a new political agreement known as “the common position.” Both sides reported that two of the three pillars of a deal on trade and cooperation have been accomplished. Cuba and the EU had agreed in March to try to reach the basics of a deal by the end of this year, but both sides backed off that goal on Thursday. The next round is scheduled for the second half of November in Brussels. On Friday, the Cuba-United States Bilateral Commission is meeting for the first time in Havana. teleSUR
