The snubfin dolphin is quite unique in its appearance and one of the rare creatures was spotted off the coast of northern Australia recently.

It's probably got a devastating backstroke—maybe that's why it looks like it's always smiling.  Enter the snubfin dolphin—a rarity known only to exist in Australia. One was seen and photographed recently by a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service ranger, who calls it a stroke of "pure luck."  The animals were only acknowledged to be a distinct species in 2005 and are exceedingly shy—especially when compared to the better-known bottlenose dolphins.  Snubfins also exhibit interesting hunting behavior—they spray their prey with water to
