At least 20 people were arrested as Turkish and Kurdish groups clashed in Stuttgart on Sunday. Police sprayes pepper gas and chased the rival groups through Stuttgart’s streets as they struggled to keep the peace. The demonstrations come as fighting between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) continues in Turkey. An initial demonstration was organised by a Turkish group wanting to hold a memorial for the Turkish soldiers killed in fighting the PKK over recent weeks.
