After breakfast at the Nacional Hotel where we checked in last night and will remain for remaining few days of our trip, we board our tour bus for a guided tour of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We leave deboard our bus, which is not permitted in the crowded, narrow streets. of the old town. Aided by our guide Carlos, architect we walk though the four distinguished squares comprising Old Havana. Following lunch leave Old Havana and walk beside the sea along the Malecón to where our bus is waiting. Our next stop is the “Muraleando Community Project” center for artists, composers and musicians to create and perform. Last we get a Spanish lesson at the Jose Marti Language School an adult learning center for foreign business people, diplomats and new residents wanting to know Spanish. On the way to dinner on our own at a recommended privately operated “Parador” about a half a mile away off the almost deserted but reportedly Malecón were are forced to detour around a guarded unmarked site with lots of flagpoles but few flags where some work is underway. Only later do we find out that the prominent building we see is the former U.S. Diplomatic Mission. Several months after our visit was formerly on this site. On July 17th 2015 after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S and Cuba this building would become the U.S. Embassy.

This is the fourth video covering our “Cuba Now” trip. Video was recorded in 1080 HD and stereophonic sound and edited with Final Cut Pro. Most still pictures were taken by Tony and Hessie Guida. Also tour member Mary Jane Kilian contributed video clips and photos as noted here in.
