We are taken to a village in the Himalayas where farm life, “magic” rituals, and arranged marriages are still commonplace. But the winds of modernity blow through the valley, and the men of the village are leaving for the city. However, an economic alternative was set up 15 years earlier in the form of a textile manufacturing cooperative. By working as weavers, the women can stay in the village and earn their social and financial independence.
