The first ever photos taken of a live male mustached kingfisher bird have been released; controversy surrounds the find because the researchers who captured the gorgeous blue, orange, and white bird ultimately decided to kill it for research purposes.

For the first time, a gorgeous and extremely elusive bird has been captured and documented, but it was ultimately killed for research purposes. 
As shown in recently released images, the male mustached kingfisher is striking, with blue feathers covering its back, a white stripe down its chest, and orange coloring on its head and beak.
