30 years ago Doc Brown and Marty McFly gained mastery over time and space and made us all believe a Delorean could be a time machine. Today we’re looking at the clocktower climax of Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future.

We’ll take a look at the scene that got audiences cheering as they watched Doc finally remedy a series of over the top mishaps that could have derailed Marty’s attempt to get back to his own time. Luckily the mishaps during filming were small and relatively unimportant (well except that whole let’s recast the star even though we’ve already shot a bunch of scenes part).

The mix of a director passionate about the project, the right actors, and a striking set piece make the Back to the Future’s clocktower climax one of the most memorable scenes in movie history. The movie itself is fantastic and definitely earned its sequels, but that clocktower scene really clinched how epic the film was.

What did you think? Did you learn something new about Back to the Future’s climax at the clocktower? Which Back to the Future film is your favorite? What other scenes would you like us to explore in future episodes?
