Police get creative to rescue herd of elk stuck in canal
People getting stuck in odd places appears to be quite common in China, but animals are now doing it too, as a herd of elk have made the news for getting trapped in a canal.
Footage has emerged from Jiangsu of 32 of the large animals being rescued by local police.
The video, captured on Wednesday, shows the group walking in the canal, before using a ramp built by the officers to climb out.
According to local media reports, it took nearly a whole day for the authorities to rescue the elk, which are nationally protected animals. It was the second time a group of elk have got stuck this month.
