Inside the Americas – Permanent Exhibition in Lima Museum of Art

The Lima Museum of Art opened a permanent exhibition in September with 1700 pieces that represent a historical sample of Peruvian art, dating back to the pre-Colombian period. The museum is arranged in historical order. One of the oldest pieces is from 1500 BC –a ceramic bottle in the shape of a contortionist. There is textile art from every period. The largest piece in the exhibition is a painting by Luis Montero that portrays the burial of the Incan emperor Atahualpa, representing the point when the Spanish conquerors defeated the last Incan ruler. teleSUR
