NY man arrested 6 years after wealthy wife's dead body found in bathtub

NEW YORK — The husband of deceased New York finance executive Shele Covlin was arrested nearly six years after she was found dead in the family apartment's bathtub in 2009.

The body of Shele Covlin, a money manager at UBS, was found in the bathtub of the family apartment on New York's Upper West Side on December 31, 2009. Her body was discovered by her 9-year-old daughter, the New York Times reported.

Police initially believed Covlin's death was an accident as the only visible wound was a cut on the back of her head. However, after her body was autopsied, medical examiners concluded in April 2010 that she had been strangled, according to the New York Times.

While in the middle of a divorce with Shele Covlin, her husband Roderick moved to another apartment across the hall in the same building. Roderick was entitled to get half of his wife's $4 million estate, with the rest going to their children. However, Shele had made an appointment with her lawyer on Jan 1, 2010 with the intention of cutting him out of her will, according to the New York Times.

Roderick was arrested at the Metro-North train station in Scarsdale on Sunday morning and arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court late Monday morning. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree murder.
