Venezuela: Opposition Leaders Call for Change in Constitution

Venezuelans are coming to terms with the right-wing victory in Sunday’s parliamentary elections. Official results so far give the MUD coalition 99 seats against 46 for the ruling socialist party and its allies. A 2/3 majority win would give the right wing power over Venezuela’s political system. Former opposition presidential candidate Henrique Capriles has called for national unity, but other opposition leaders are calling for the closure of state media outlets, amnesty for opposition leaders convicted of violence, a recall referendum to remove President Maduro from office and a rewrite of Venezuela’s Constitution. teleSUR
