Gaza: Recent Escalations Evoke Mixed Feelings

Gaza militants opened fire this Wednesday on an Israeli vehicle patrolling the southern border, and Israeli troops fired back, injuring three Palestinians. Taken together with the situation in Jerusalem and the West Bank, such attacks could prompt a new conflict with Israel, say some Gaza citizens, while others believe that resistance groups have the right to respond to Israeli attacks. The 51-day Israeli Protective Edge offensive against Gaza began in 2014, after Israeli settlers burned 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir alive, and outraged Palestinians responded with a barrage of missiles.
