British cat (Британская короткошерстная)

Ярким представителем породы домашних кошек является британский короткошерстный «любимец домохозяек». Данная порода кошек была искусственно сформирована в Англии в 19 веке в результате гибридного альянса английских домашних кошек и пресловутых персов. В процессе разработки новой породы чаще использовали пушистых «оборванцев» с улиц и городских парков. Если заглянуть в прошлое, то мы увидим, что еще 12 лет назад в нашей стране и не предполагали существование большей части ныне широко известных и востребованных пород кошек. Начало селекционного периода в России был ознаменован прибытием с некогда дружественных нам стран по социалистическому союзу такой породы, как персидские кошки. За несколько лет персы достигли эйфории, стали частыми посетителями и непосредственными участниками выставок, исключение составляли другие породы кошек. За период рассвета персов на внутренней арене страны селекционеры добились того, что в России были выведены все цвета и оттенки этой породы, и за тем кошек ждало признание международной публики.
