RALEIGH-DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA — A father who says his 10-year-old daughter was 'inappropriately' patted down by a TSA agent at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, apparently believes it's entirely appropriate to post the video of of the frisking to YouTube.
The saga began on December 30, 2015, as the Payne family was going through security to board a flight to San Diego. Ten-year-old Vendela Payne's bag was flagged as it went through an x-ray machine. It was later discovered she had forgotten to remove a juice box from her carry-on bag.
As the passenger's item had been flagged, a female TSA agent then proceeded to give the child a pat down that reportedly lasted close to two minutes. The girl's father, Kevin Payne, filmed the episode which shows his daughter appearing uncomfortable as a polite and professional TSA agents engages in a thorough pat down of Vendela.
While many in the United States are unhappy with the screening procedures required at airports, Kevin Payne lost a lot of sympathy after he posted the video of his daughter's ordeal to YouTube.
Many online commentators observed that Kevin appeared to slow down the video in some sections in an apparent bid to make the pat down appear more sinister. Others who commented on the video, which has over 100,000 views, noted that the act of posting a video to YouTube showing the alleged mistreatment of your own child is a bigger offense than the alleged "aggressive" TSA pat down.
