Karan Johar born on 25th may 1972, at Mumbai, is an Indian actor, director, producer, TV host, screenwriter, costume designer, and anchor. He is the son of Yash and Hiroo Johar and heads Dharma Productions after his father’s death.

Karan Johar started his film career as an actor and he acted in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge , directed by his best friend Aditya Chopra. On the sets he made a rapport with Kajol and Shahrukh Khan and went on to make his debut as a director in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with both the actors and the film was a smashing hit, in the year 1988 and won Film Fare Award for the best film and national award for the most popular film.

He also directed Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, a family saga and the film won five film fare awards.

All his films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Wake Up Sid, My Name Is Khan, We Are Family, Agneepath ,Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, and many others are all decent family oriented films and vulgarity has never been a part of his films.


Karan Johar’s exotic foreign locales, grand sets, classy stylish handling of the actors is the hallmark of his films.

His production house is run very efficiently. Karan johar has hosted popular television shows Koffee with Karan and Lift Kara De, besides many popular award shows.

In the year 2007- he was awarded for 250 young global leaders award by world economic forum and was a jury member for miss world contest in year 2006.
