00:00Excuse me, she won't be long now.
00:02Dr. Mary.
00:03Yes, Jessop.
00:04There's a young lady in the library, sir. She wants to see you.
00:06A young lady?
00:07Did you tell her she was too late? I've just got married.
00:09Yes, sir, but she insisted.
00:10I can't see any patients today, Jessop.
00:12Is the car out front?
00:13Excuse me, sir.
00:14The lady said she was a close friend of yours.
00:16A close friend? What's her name?
00:17She didn't give it, sir.
00:18She's from Dumarville.
00:20Dumarville?
00:21That's what she said, sir.
00:22She's in the library?
00:23Yes, sir.
00:24Put this in the car, will you, Jessop?
00:27Hello, Tom.
00:28Annette.
00:32Pleased to see me?
00:33Surprised?
00:34Oh, I don't know what to say.
00:36I just can't believe it.
00:38Oh, Annette.
00:40Oh, it's good to see you again.
00:42You look wonderful.
00:43It's been a long time, Tom.
00:44I never thought I'd see you again.
00:45At the hospital, they told me you were missing.
00:47No.
00:48I finished out the war at Dumarville.
00:50I knew that you had been shipped home after the liberation.
00:53But I did expect you to write to me or contact me in some way.
00:57Well, I made inquiries, of course.
00:59But I thought you were dead.
01:00They told me you never got out of that house alive.
01:02And you believed them?
01:03Well, why shouldn't I?
01:04It was a miracle anyone got out of that house.
01:06But you knew that it was not true.
01:08I don't understand.
01:11At Paul's place.
01:13After Marie's house had been attacked.
01:15After they found you crawling on the hillside, more dead than alive.
01:18I was there then.
01:19You were there.
01:20Naturellement.
01:23Don't tell me that you don't remember.
01:25Oh, what happened at Paul's place is just a blur to me.
01:27I remember the house and the village.
01:29I have a hazy memory of them taking me to Paul's place and patching me up.
01:32But after that, it's just a blank.
01:34A whole month of my life lost.
01:36The next thing I knew, I was waking up in the back of an American ambulance.
01:39And a big red-faced surgeon was telling me the war was over for me.
01:42It was a miracle.
01:44You lost your memory?
01:45Yeah, amnesia.
01:46That's the medical term.
01:48Well, you see, I was pretty badly shot up in it.
01:50I was lucky to live through it at all.
01:52You know, I'm still carrying a silver plate up here as a result of it.
01:55Oh, but let's not talk about the war.
01:57That's past.
01:58Forgotten.
01:59No.
02:00No, it's not forgotten, Tom.
02:02So that's why I never heard from you.
02:04Do you think if I'd known you were alive, I wouldn't have tried to contact you?
02:07Why?
02:08I'd even have invited you to my wedding.
02:11Ah, yes.
02:12Your wedding.
02:13Now, what's the matter?
02:14You shouldn't have got married, Tom.
02:16Oh, you won't say that after you've met Chris.
02:18She's wonderful, Annette.
02:20You're married to me.
02:27Legally, I'm still your wife.
