Hey Guys Im Mike and this is the Run List
After Asiana Flight 214 crashed at the San Francisco airport on July 6th, the news was abuzz with what could have gone wrong.
Like all TV stations, Oakland Based KTVU was quick to get the news out, but in this case, it may have been a little too quick.
The station said they had called the National Transportation Safety Board to make sure they had the right names of the pilots who flew the aircraft and this is what they aired:

What KTVU didnt know was that the names they had tried so hard to confirm were actually fake, and not just wrong, but also offensive and racist towards Asians.
The anchor admitted the mistake after a commercial break, but by that point the damage had already been done.
So if youre like me youre probably wondering Where did they get these phony names in the first place?
Well, the source of the names is still unknown but what the National Transportation Safety Board says is that the person who confirmed the names was a summer intern and did not have the authority to answer these types of questions.
Now this is pretty embarrassing for the KTVU but to make matters worse Asiana is now going to sue them for damaging their reputation. Asiana may also sue the National Transportation Safety Board for their role in the whole mix up, making this one ugly situation all around.
So, what do you think? Was Asianas reputation really put on the line or was the failed landing of their aircraft a bigger blow to their brand?
