In the early hours of Wednesday, a meteorite of about one kilogram of weight fell on Cordoba region of Andalusia, Spain.

The Astronomical Complex sensor “La Hita” in Toledo, estimates that the meteorite comes from an asteroid with a mass of about 400 kilograms, known as 2013DF, with a size of a 15-story building, and that passed very close to the earth for three years on 27 February 2013.

Apparently, it left fragmenting parts, dropping a few pieces - including this meteorite, which followed a different path.

After entering the Earth's atmosphere, when it was about 19 km altitude, the meteorite became a fireball with a brightness five times larger than the moon.

The meteorite, with just over one kilogram, crashed into the ground at a speed of more than 60,000 km / h, according to the calculations of Professor José María Madiedo, astronomer at the University of Huelva.

According to “El Mundo” is the fourth time in a few days, the Iberian Peninsula experiences a phenomenon of this kind, but this was the one with most impact.

Given the origin attributed to meteorite, Professor Mandievo does not rule out the possibility that in the coming days, more happenings of this nature will occur in the heavens of the Iberian Peninsula.

Earlier this month, on 6th, at the coast of Brazil, a meteorite also exploded over the Atlantic Ocean.
