Everyone has anticipated Mo'Nique's return to the silver screen, but paired with Isaiah Washington as her husband and a storyline that screams drama, it is sure to be a huge success worthy of award buzz.
EURweb associate, LaCora Stephens, was at the Pan African Film Fest to speak to super producer, Isaiah Washington, who has two other projects screening at the festival: Blue Caprice and For Colored Boys.
The blockbuster BlackBird will actually close PAFF. The plot consists of a troubled teen growing up in a conservative Mississippi town that "comes out" on more levels than one, Washington explains.
He went on to say, "It explores the love between two human beings who happen to be men, taboos in the black church, teenage pregnancy and suicide, politics around abortion, conservatism in the South, child abduction; it takes on multiple themes."
