Trailer for the 1957 "giant monster" programmer, BEGINNING OF THE END, starring Peter Graves, Peggie Castle and Morris Ankrum.

Considered by many to have some of the worst special effects of any 1950s science-fiction film, most reviewers of the day were less than kind. A review in the The Los Angeles Times stated, "The audience is cheated in the production. The conclusion is never in doubt and the process shots are so obvious that one is startled the first time a buffalo-sized grasshopper hits the screen but never again. And at no time are there more than a half-dozen of the things shown at once, although the script avers that there are thousands about and more coming."

BEGINNING OF THE END hasn't improved with time as film critic Leonard Maltin recently called it " awful". While another recent reviewer labeled it "Bottom-of-the-sci-fi-barrel rubbish, very boring to watch."

Produced and directed by Bert I. Gordon, this film was slated to be the first release of a planned six productions for 1957 from the newly formed AB-PT (American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres) production company. Eben though the film was a moderate success, no other motion picture was ever released by AB-PT.
