UN to Trump: Climate deal is critical to saving the planet

The UN hit back at Donald Trump Friday after he vowed to scrap the Paris climate deal if elected US president, saying the agreement was critical to saving Earth.
Trump had in the past said he was “not a big fan” of the Paris deal and he would look to renegotiate it, but on Thursday he declared he would get rid of it altogether.
The Paris climate deal sets the goal of limiting global warming to “well below” 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (two Celsius) above pre-industrial levels, by moving to clean energy.
China and the US, the world’s top polluters, said they will endorse the agreement this year.
The Obama administration plans to ratify the deal with an executive agreement, bypassing the Senate and setting up a complex and difficult process for any future president wishing to pull out.
