Son of the legendary Haji Ghulam Farid Sabri and heir to the Sabri heritage, Amjad Farid Sabri has risen to be one of the leading Qawwals in Pakistan today.His musical lineage stretches back over many centuries, the vocation being passed.
The Sabri Brothers are a Sufi Qawwali party from Pakistan, closely connected to the Chishti Order. Sometimes, referred to as Roving Ambassadors for Pakistan. Sabri Brothers were originally led by the soaring voice of the late Haji Ghulam Farid Sabri, whose periodic repeat use of 'Allah' during songs has become a Sabri signature, and his younger brother late Haji Maqbool Ahmed Sabri. They were the first exponents of Qawwali to the West, when they performed at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1975.[3] Many people consider the Sabris instrumentally more adventurous, rougher and more soulful than Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Party, Sabri Brothers have given a number of soulful qawwali performances globally with beautiful Qawwali hits. Their stature in Pakistan is colossal. Sadly on 22nd of June 2016, on 16th Ramadan, Amjad Fareed Sabri was targeted by some target killers and was shot in Liaquatabad,Karachi and died at the spot.According to news,He was shot in head and throat and died before reaching hospital.There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Amjad Sabri sahab was attacked near Lalo Khait No 10 in Liaquatabad, and according to eye witnesses, was shot 6 bullets out of 11 bullets fired on his vehicle.
“Amjad Sabri was still alive when I identified him and he remained there for 15 to 20 minutes before being shifted to hospital,” he said, adding that many people were gathered there after the shooting.

Amjad Sabri was the son of Ghulam Farid Farid and nephew of Maqbool Sabri who formed the legendary duo of the infamous Sabri Brothers who revolutionised classical music and Qawwali in Pakistan and around the world.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has called DG Rangers and asked details about the killing on Sabri. He has been informed that the killing seems to be an act of terrorism. The Rangers have investigated a nearby building which it is believed that the killers had sought refuge before the killing. They have also detained several suspects from the area.
Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and suspended the SHO Sharifabad. He was earlier briefed by IG Sindh AD Khawaja.
The MQM has announced three days of mourning over the killing of Sabri and has suspended all political activities and events. MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that terrorists want to create an atmosphere of fear and mistrust among the people of Karachi.
He said that this left a mark of the ongoing operation which has claimed to be a success by the government. He said that they have repeatedly pointed out that Karachi has been the hub of extremists who can attack whenever they wanted.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the killing of Amjad Sabri. He said this was a huge challenge for the writ of the state and the government over law and order situation.
Bilawal said that kidnapping of the son of Chief Justice SHC and the killing of Sabri was a conspiracy as they were specifically targeted in the incident by terrorists and their conspirators. He expressed solidarity with the family of Sabri and said that the government will make all efforts for the arrest of his assassins. He hoped that the police and other law enforcement agencies will acted to expose the killers of Sabri.
