After four years of research, scientists in Gujarat say they have found traces of gold in the urine of the indigenous Gir cow breed. Scientists at Junagadh Agricultural University claim that the analysis of urine samples of 400 Gir cows done at the Food Testing Laboratory shows traces of gold ranging from 3 mg to 10 mg from one-litre urine. They say the gold from the urine can be extracted and solidified. The Junagadh Agricultural University's Food Testing Laboratory is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and conducts 50,000 tests on various products every year on an average.
