Hurricane Newton hit the southern part of Baja California on the morning of Tuesday, September 6. The hurricane made landfall south of Cabo San Lucas early Tuesday with maximum sustained winds of 90 miles per hour, according to the US National Hurricane Center. Hurricane Newton is expected to bring high winds, heavy rain and potential flooding southern Baja California and mainland Mexico on Tuesday morning before heading towards the US Southwest.
