Some people thrive on eating extremely spicy food, but there is a new product that could challenge even their tolerance for heat.
An Austin-based company named Paqui is set to release a limited-edition chip that is considered so hot, only one chip is included in a pack. The packaging also features the Grim Reaper on it.
According to the company's website, “The Paqui Carolina Reaper is made with the hottest chili pepper on the planet, the ‘Carolina Reaper,’ which measures in at over 1.5 million on the Scoville Heat Scale, and is the Guinness World Record holder for hottest chili.”
For those who may be questioning the limited serving size, Ed Currie, who developed the product, is quoted as saying, “It's the hottest chip you'll ever have....After you eat that one chip, trust me, you're not looking to dig back into the bag and have a second one.”
Paqui expects to start selling the Carolina Reaper in October for a retail cost of about $4.99 each.
